Winners of the Kotlin Foundation Grants Program 2025

The Kotlin Foundation is pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 Kotlin Foundation Libraries Grants Program.

This year, the program attracted strong interest from across the community, with 117 applications submitted by library authors working to advance the Kotlin ecosystem. After a thorough review process, the committee selected five projects to receive grants in recognition of their impact, technical quality, and value to Kotlin developers.

Each selected project will receive a $6,000 grant to support further development and long-term sustainability.

2025 Grant Recipients

The following projects have been selected as the 2025 Kotlin Foundation Libraries Grants Program winners:

  • Firebase Kotlin SDK – A Kotlin-first SDK that provides idiomatic access to Firebase services, enabling seamless use of Firebase in Kotlin and Kotlin Multiplatform projects.

  • Shadow Gradle Plugin – A Gradle plugin for creating fat and shaded JARs, supporting Kotlin and JVM-based projects with flexible packaging options.

  • Mokkery – The mocking library for Kotlin Multiplatform, easy to use, boilerplate-free and compiler plugin driven.

  • Stack Trace Decoroutinator – A debugging tool that improves the readability of coroutine stack traces, making it easier to understand and diagnose issues in asynchronous Kotlin code.

  • Kobweb – A Kotlin-based framework and DSL for building modern, reactive web applications with a strong focus on developer experience.

Program Highlights

In 2025, the Kotlin Foundation expanded the scope of the Libraries Grants Program in two important ways. In addition to Kotlin Multiplatform libraries, the program also welcomed AI-related libraries as eligible submissions. The set of qualified applicants was also broadened to include libraries backed by companies, alongside fully community-driven projects.

Looking Ahead

The Kotlin Foundation is grateful to everyone who applied and shared their work with the committee. The quality and breadth of submissions reflect the continued growth and maturity of the Kotlin ecosystem.

Library authors who were not selected this year are encouraged to continue developing their projects and to apply in future rounds of the Grants Program.
